2012's Plethora of 90s Breaking New Ground

Wednesday's high temperature of 90° is not only the 3rd consecutive 90°+ temperature this week, but raises the total tally of 2012 to a whopping 49 days!

Just how big of an accomplishment is it to register this many 90s? The answer: It's a HUGE accomplishment! There've now been only three other years that have seen more 90s than 2012! The last time we've seen more than 49 days with 90°+ temperatures was 78 years ago, back in 1934!!! Prior to that year's 52 days with 90°+ heat, 1895 saw 53 days in the 90s or above. The most prolific year for 90s here was 1921, a year in which 63 such days occurred!
