Two entire townships, West Point and Lancaster in Stephenson County are shut down because of the storm. US Route 20 was closed earlier from the Jo Daviess County Line to Illinois Route 73. Illinois Route 75 was deemed impassible from Freeport to Meridian road because of blowing and drifting snow.
People who got into accidents on that road were left stranded because crews couldn't reach them. Winnebago County stopped plowing for a few hours this afternoon because the snow was coming down so fast. Chicago O'Hare had had to cancel over 1,000 flights today because of the weather.
