Each year the Rock County Historical Society transforms the 1850’s restored mansion into an example of Victorian holiday splendor with elaborate decorations and insightful stories. The physical transformation of the mansion is no small feat, considering it takes staff and volunteers weeks to complete the decorating process of the 26-room Italian style mansion. Holiday decorations include over 100 feet of garland, nearly 100 candles and five fabulous Christmas trees; a Victorian-era tree festooned with over 500 spectacular ornaments, a Civil War era tree decorated with quaint handmade ornaments, a stunning white tree from the early 1900’s as well as two other beautiful trees. Holiday displays in dining rooms, bedchambers and parlors reflect the lifestyle of what a family living in the mansion during the period may have been like. Some displays include handmade quilts and coverlets, and musical instruments of the era.
