Self Defense for Women & Girls

Womanspace Library and Anjali PavilionThis class will help develop awareness and confidence by teaching easy techniques you can use to defend yourself in times of distress. The skills you learn can help protect against bullies, abductions, and others who may want to harm you. Now is a great time to learn or review your skills, and the final class is a simulation of abduction scenarios with a police officer in protective gear. Self defense is great for empowerment and lots of fun too! Limited scholarships are available.
Regular Fee: $75 Members' Fee $60. For ages 9 and up. Great for Moms & Daughters.

Meditation

Womanspace Library Womanspace 3333 Maria Linden Drive Rockford ILLearn from a life-long practitioner and take time for yourself to relax in either a prone or seated position. Discover techniques to focus and meditate as Dr. Shanti shares ways to take this practice into your daily life. Dress comfortably and bring a yoga mat or rug, a blanket, and if you have them, an eye pillow and earplugs.

Womansong Chorale

Provena Cor Mariae Activity Classroom next door to Womanspace 3333 Maria Linden Drive Rockford, ILCelebrating their 12th, year, Womansong meets for rehearsal and camaraderie under the direction of Roberta Flaherty. Although the primary focus is enjoyment and harmony, the chorale also gives occasional performances, including the opening reception of the Womanspace Holiday Art and Craft Sale, the Interfaith Thanksgiving Service a Rockford College, the Barnes and Noble Book Fair, and at health care facilities. Whether you read music or not; if you have always wanted to be in a choir, make new friends and sing your heart out, consider joining Womansong!

New Members will be accepted during the first few weeks of rehearsal.

Intermediate Wheel Thrown Pottery

New Dimensions Clay Studio Womanspace 3333 Maria Linden Drive Rockford, ILFor those with comfort and skill throwing clay, including centering and pulling up bowls, mugs, and plates. Each student will have a wheel and ample opportunity to practice under the tutelage of an expert pot thrower.
Regular Fee: $110 Members' Fee: $95 Ages 16-Adult
Fee includes up to 25 lbs f clay, glazes and firing.

Acrylic Painting: The Flexible Medium

New Dimensions Studio Womanspace 3333 Maria Linden Drive in RockfordLearn to expand your existing horizons or for the first time, start to paint without thinkikng about outcome. Revisit the fun you had as a kid when you let your brush take over and carry you through the painting. Bring acrylic paint and brushes, two canvases at least 24" x 30", palette, drop cloth, and water jar. No images to copy please.
