Botanica: a gardener's luncheon 2014
Giovanni's 610 N. Bell School Rd. Rockford, IL 61107
Welcome spring with your floral friends during Klehm's gardener’s luncheon at Giovanni's. This year's speaker is Roy Diblik, a recognized perennial plant expert, designer, speaker and author. Combining his 35 years of knowledge growing traditional and Midwest native perennials, he specializes in cultivating highly aesthetic, sustainable plant communities for all seasons, while reducing maintenance through design.
As Master Landscape Architect for The Shedd Aquarium, Diblik installed a 12,000 square foot Contemporary Mixed Meadow Planting to demonstrate how native plants and regionally dependable perennials can live well together. He also grew and installed 15,000 plants at The Lurie Garden, Millennium Park, in Chicago and is still involved as an official grower for The Lurie Garden. Diblik is a prolific speaker and contributor to Wisconsin Gardening Magazine, Chicagoland Gardening Magazine and Illinois Landscape Contractor. In his Botanica presentation, he will discuss how to plant a gorgeous perennial garden using a simplified approach made up of hardy, beautiful plants grown in a grid-like design.
