Emerald Ash Borer Education Update for Public

Common questions will be addressed including tree removal, disposal requirements, replacement tree recommendations, and professional and homeowner treatment options. Learn how to identify signs of EAB infestation and what to do about it. Learn how to protect your healthy trees and make an informed decision about tree management.

The fee for the EAB program is $5.

Disability: Another Form of Diversity and Civil Rights and The Ten Most Commonly Asked Questions regarding the Hiring of People with Disabilities

Highland Community College’s Department of ADA Services will hold a presentation on disability as diversity on Thursday, June 13 at 3 p.m. in the Marvin Burt-Burt Liberal Arts Center, Room M120. The program is designed to give managers, small business owners, community board members and college employees a vital understanding of the disability world as it applies to the workplace and higher education. Registration will open at 3:00 p.m. with the presentation beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Robin Jones, director of the Great Lakes ADA Center, and Randall Ward, director of Disability Services at Northern Illinois University will present “Disability: Another Form of Diversity and Civil Rights and The Ten Most Commonly Asked Questions regarding the Hiring of People with Disabilities.” The afternoon promises enriching and educational moments, which will bring to light our often subtle discriminatory attitudes toward people with disabilities. We encourage you to come with questions in hand and an open mind.

Refreshments will be served during the registration period and there will be a brief intermission between keynote speakers.
