Energy for Cammi

Eagles Club 3829 11th St, Rockford IL
At the beginning of May, just nine months after giving birth to her daughter, Cammi Weber was diagnosed with stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer. At the time of diagnosis it had already spread to her lymph nodes. Cammi and her husband have elected to have all of her medical care at UW Madison. While insurance covers a portion of the costs there is still the deductible and it doesn’t take into account her lost time at both jobs, nor the travel back and forth to Madison for weekly chemotherapy.

Cammi’s passion in life, besides being a mom, is singing. She has spent many years entertaining Rockford, most notably with her own band Cammi’s NRG. Cammi has also helped organize 3 successful benefits in the past few years raising money for families struggling with medical issues. Now her friends and family would like to turn the tables and help her by organizing a day of family fun at the Eagles Club in Rockford on September 6, 2014. There will be a horseshoe tournament, live music, a silent auction, basket raffle and even activities for children.

The event will be held at the Eagles Club in Rockford, 3829 11th St from noon to 5pm. The band that will be performing that day is AudioDrive. Admission is $10/person.

Hot Fest for Hospice 2014 - Salsa Cooking Contest and Music Festival

Verdi Club, 782 N Madison Street
On August 31st, Concepts for Charity will present Hot Fest for Hospice 2014 on the shores of the Rock River at the Verdi Club, 782 N Madison Street, in Rockford. The event will take place from 12:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Concepts for Charity is a local, all volunteer, non-profit organization that raises funds for local causes through the production of events in the stateline region.

Since 2003, Hot Fest for Hospice has been a festival that raises awareness and funds for not-for-profit hospice organizations near Rockford, Illinois. Each year, hundreds of families are touched by the support and care of these providers.

At the heart of Hot Fest for Hospice is the area’s only Iron Chef style Salsa Competition. The competition features two-person teams who are challenged to make two gallons of salsa from scratch while the clock ticks and people cheer. The best part is that festival goers help by judging the teams in several categories.

This family-friendly event also features live music from the area’s best bands and fun activities for all ages! Look for future updates and details in the days ahead and be sure to check us out at the following:
