Kantorei Spring Concert

Acclaimed for their musical discipline, sensitivity, and well-rounded programming, Kantorei represents the finest tradition of boychoirs. Under the musical direction of Joel Ross, Bradley Koloch, and Trudy Anderson, the choir will present a program titled “Why We Sing”—a musical tapestry exploring the many facets of human emotion and its expression in the wondrous art we call singing. Highlights include choral classics, American folk hymns, and spirituals that reflect on themes of praise, hope and promise. A set titled “Heart and Voice” includes folk melodies and choral settings of poetry on themes of longing, love, and loss. You won’t want to miss this exciting program which is sure to inspire and touch the heart.

Womansong Chorale

Celebrating their 12th, year, Womansong meets for rehearsal and camaraderie under the direction of Roberta Flaherty. Although the primary focus is enjoyment and harmony, the chorale also gives occasional performances, including the opening reception of the Womanspace Holiday Art and Craft Sale, the Interfaith Thanksgiving Service a Rockford College, the Barnes and Noble Book Fair, and at health care facilities. Whether you read music or not; if you have always wanted to be in a choir, make new friends and sing your heart out, consider joining Womansong!

New Members will be accepted during the first few weeks of rehearsal.

HCC Children’s Choir

The Highland Community College Children’s Choir rehearsals will be held on Mondays from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. in the Ferguson Fine Arts Center, room 10. New singers are welcome to attend. All students 8 to 13 years of age who enjoy singing are invited and encouraged to join the choir. There is no audition required. The Children’s Choir provides an opportunity to practice vocal music talents as well as promote personal and social growth. There is no registration fee.
