River City Sound Chorus

River City Sound Chorus, a Chapter of Sweet Adelines International, will perform their contest songs along with other favorites at a free “Friends and Family” night May 4, 2016. Led by Master Director, Joan Boutilier, the chorus will sing at their regular rehearsal site, Belvidere’s CBCBC, 111 W 1st St, Belvidere, Illinois. Doors will open at 7:45 p.m. and the performance will start at 8:00 p.m..
The four time Regional Champion Chorus has represented their region at International competitions in Seattle, Denver and Baltimore. Springtime marks the Sweet Adelines International's “season” of contests, when choruses in 30 regions around the world compete for the chance to represent their region at the International Contest. This year in October, River City Sound Chorus will compete in Las Vegas, Nevada.
River City Sound Chorus has been entertaining in the Rock Valley area since 1980. Chorus members are women from all walks of life who love to sing four part a-cappella (unaccompanied) harmony.

Stephenson County RAMP Wheel-A-Thon
Highland Community College/YMCA Sports Center, 2998 W Pearl City Road in Freeport
RAMP’s 17th Annual Stephenson County Wheel-A-Thon on Thursday, July 28th at 5:30pm will be at Highland Community College/YMCA Sports Center, 2998 W Pearl City Road in Freeport. This is a fun family-friendly event that takes an ordinary event (like a walk) and introduces a disability awareness aspect by focusing on the abilities of people using a wheelchair – the wheelchair can be shared by a team and decorated before the two mile route begins. Participants collect donations and receive structured incentives from local community partners such as McDonald’s and Magic Waters. The Wheel-A-Thon helps support the efforts of RAMP’s Stephenson County office. The Wheel-A-Thon supports RAMP's mission to promote an accessible society that allows and expects full participation by people with disabilities.
