RVC Visiting Writer Series

Rock Valley College Student Center Atrium
Dr. Gautier will lecture on Thursday, September 25, 2014 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the Rock Valley College Student Center Atrium (located on RVC’s main campus at 3301 North Mulford Road). The lecture will be immediately followed by a Q & A session and book signing.

Dr. Gautier is the winner of the Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction for her short story collection At-Risk. Gautier is the second African American writer to win this award in its thirty-year history. She is also the winner of the Prairie Schooner Book Prize in Fiction for her short-story collection Now We Will Be Happy.

In honor of the 50th Anniversary of the NIU Anthropology Museum, celebrated forensic anthropology Dr. Kathy Reichs will visit NIU and speak on her career as a scientist, author and tv producer of the show BONES. The Anthropology Museum at NIU is excited to welcome her to this signature event on Thursday, October 23, 2014. Dr. Reichs will speak at 4:00pm at the Sandburg Auditorium at the Holmes Student Center. She will also be the keynote speaker for the Anthropology Museum’s 50th Anniversary Gala Event beginning at 7:30 pm in Altgeld Hall.
