What does a girl’s self-portrait say about her? What can her own art teach her about how she looks at herself? Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois (GSNI) invites all local girls in grades 4–5 to participate in Express Yourself at the Freeport Art Museum, 121 N. Harlem, on Saturday, June 22, from 3–5 p.m. Studying famous self-portraits as a guide, girls will create their own self-portraits by using expressive color with oil pastels and words that describe each girl’s unique personality. This program is designed for girls interested in building self-esteem and learning about art.
Program fee is $15 per registered Girl Scout; $27 per non-registered Girl Scout and includes all art supplies and instruction. The additional $12 registers girls as Girl Scouts and allows them to participate in this program and many others throughout the year!
