Meditation in the Garden
9:30 am - 10:30 am
Klehm Arboretum & Botanic Garden
Do you have a busy lifestyle and need to slow down and see the beauty in the world around you? The tranquil gardens at Klehm will be the backdrop for a new meditation class held weekly on Saturday mornings. Join this new class and learn the practice of Vipassana meditation.
Meaning of the word “Vispassana”
“Vipassanā” comes from the Indo-Aryan language of Pali. It translates to “insight” or “seeing deeply”.
Purpose of Vipassanā Meditation
To calm and clear the mind
To view the world with clarity
To find balance within the self
The practice of Vipassana Meditation
Vipassana meditation is done in a relatively quiet place. It can be done alone or with a group. The focus of the meditation is the self and its responses to the stimulus that affect it. The journey of self-transformation is done through observing how the self reacts to external and internal sensations. This is a journey through the micro and macro cosmos.
Where, when, and what to bring
Weekly on Saturdays at 9:30 A.M to 10:30 A.M. at Klehm Arboretum & Botanic Garden. Nothing is needed, but feel free to bring a cushion, pillow, mediation stool, or anything of comfort to sit on as the session will last roughly an hour and will be held outside in the gardens.
Phung Nguyen will conduct the class.

Quo Vadis Madison 2014
Quo Vadis Madison 2014 brings together young professionals and students of Polish descent or with other connections to Poland for a weekend of intensive leadership building and networking. The conference will be organized in (large) part by the Polish Student Association, UW-Madison.
With a renewed focus on problem-solving skills applied to contemporary Polonia issues, Quo Vadis Madison continues the United States chapter of the Quo Vadis International vision for excellence and unity in the Polish diaspora. Our conference’s motto is “Back to the Future” in order to capture the theme of innovation. We would like to provide an atmosphere where participants are encouraged to think of unique ways to approach issues important to Polonia today. Sometimes, the key to future success can be found in a retreat of thoughtful reflection; by rethinking the basics and how we approach them, we can resolve even the most insurmountable problems. An emphasis on creative problem solving and a renewal of how we wish to develop Quo Vadis will be the central focus for our committee.
