Horticulture for the Holidays

Join University of Illinois Extension for Horticulture for the Holidays on Tuesday, December 2, at 1:30 p.m. The workshop will be held at Boone County Extension located at 205 Cadillac Ct. Suite 5 in Belvidere, and will last approximately an hour and a half. Horticulture for the Holidays will feature information about poinsettias and evergreens and will conclude with a make and take evergreen project.
Candice Miller, Extension Horticulture Educator, will discuss how to select the perfect poinsettia and how to care for that poinsettia so that it stays looking good for the holiday season. Candice will also discuss the traditional decoration for the holiday season, evergreens. She will demonstrate how to make wreaths, swags, garlands, and winter containers using fresh evergreens. Following the discussion portion of the program, participants will be able to make a wreath to take home with them.

Registration cost is $20. Participants are welcome to bring additional novelties or ornaments to add to their design. Christmas Vibrations Concert

The Second Annual "Christmas Vibrations" concert promises an afternoon of seasonal favorites performed by three adult handbell choirs in the gorgeous sanctuary of Rockford's historic Second Congregational/First Presbyterian Church. Admission is free. An optional offering will be collected.
