BCCD Heirloom Seed Sale

Date(s): 2/8/2015

10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Community Center Complex 111 W First st. Belvidere, IL
On Sunday, February 8, the Boone County Conservation District Cultural Heritage Gardens will be hosting an Heirloom Vegetable Seed Sale at the Belvidere Community Building Complex of Boone County located at 111 W. First St., Belvidere, IL.

Hours for the sale will be 10-3pm.

Heirloom vegetable, flower and herb seeds from Seed Savers and Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds will be offered for sale. Free seed catalogs will also be available while supplies last.

Save on seed catalog shipping costs by buying your seeds at the sale. Explore more than 100 different seed varieties available and try some new “old” favorites this year. Offerings include: beans, beets, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, carrots, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, corn, cucumber, eggplant, fennel, flowers, garden berries, greens, herbs, leeks, lettuce, melon, okra, onion, peppers, pumpkins, radishes, turnip, salsify, Swiss chard, spinach, squash, sunflower, tomatoes, and zucchini.

Informational handouts on seed starting will be available.

New this year: Meet local farmers about their CSA offerings. Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) has become a popular way for consumers to buy local, seasonal food directly from a farmer. Get Information on local farmers markets and shop local vendors.

University of Illinois, Master Gardeners will be on-site to answer your gardening questions and will present informational programs throughout the event.
