Healthy Living: Healthy Snacks for Kids

Date(s): 8/4/2014

6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Ida Public Library 320 N. State Street Belvidere, IL
Are you snack savvy? We all need to be, considering many of us take in as much as 25% of our daily calories from snacks. This isn't a problem if our snack choices are healthy and we keep in mind snacks are not "additional" calories, but part of our daily calorie needs. As parents we know it is important to provide healthy snacks for our children, however this is not always easy given all the tempting, unhealthy options available these days. Extension Nutrition and Wellness Educator, Marilyn Csernus will help make this task a little easier with some easy snack options. WE will demo a couple of recipes for you to taste and try out at home.

This is the second program in a FREE three-part series focusing on gardening activities, healthy snacks an cooking with herbs. The final program in the series is Aug. 18: Growing and Cooking with Culinary Herbs.

While this is a free program, registration is still needed to ensure we have enough materials for the participants. Registration can be done by calling the Boone County Extension office at 815-544-3710, or by visiting our website at web.extension.illinois.edu/bdo.
