Saturday May 14th is World Fair Trade Day and Just Goods will be hosting a Trunk Show of Sterling Silver Jewelry from Bali and Sandpiper Imports. Sandpiper Imports works directly with a silversmith community of fifteen artisans in a small village outside of Ubud, a city well regarded as the cultural and artistic heart of Bali. This gorgeous jewelry, in addition to being a high quality item, also fosters economic sustainability for this small village.

In addition to the Trunk Show of silver jewelry, Erika from Sandpiper Imports, will be giving a brief talk about Bali and the artisans who craft this jewelry along with pictures of her recent trip there.

River City Sound Chorus

River City Sound Chorus, a Chapter of Sweet Adelines International, will perform their contest songs along with other favorites at a free “Friends and Family” night May 4, 2016. Led by Master Director, Joan Boutilier, the chorus will sing at their regular rehearsal site, Belvidere’s CBCBC, 111 W 1st St, Belvidere, Illinois. Doors will open at 7:45 p.m. and the performance will start at 8:00 p.m..
The four time Regional Champion Chorus has represented their region at International competitions in Seattle, Denver and Baltimore. Springtime marks the Sweet Adelines International's “season” of contests, when choruses in 30 regions around the world compete for the chance to represent their region at the International Contest. This year in October, River City Sound Chorus will compete in Las Vegas, Nevada.
River City Sound Chorus has been entertaining in the Rock Valley area since 1980. Chorus members are women from all walks of life who love to sing four part a-cappella (unaccompanied) harmony.

This is a fun family-friendly event that takes an ordinary event (like a walk) and introduces a disability awareness aspect by focusing on the abilities of people using a wheelchair – the wheelchair can be shared by a team and decorated before the two mile route begins. Participants collect donations and receive structured incentives from local community partners such as McDonald’s and Magic Waters. The Wheel-A-Thon helps support the efforts of RAMP’s Stephenson County office. The Wheel-A-Thon supports RAMP's mission to promote an accessible society that allows and expects full participation by people with disabilities. The 3-day event starts Friday, July 22, 2016 and will feature many historic aircraft from the CAF and EAA including B-29 FIFI, B-17 Aluminum Overcast, B-25 Yellow Rose, P-51 Mustang, C-45 Expeditor, T-6 Texans, and many more! Air-rides and ground tours are offered, food vendors, merchandise vendors, WWII reenactors, a 1940's era music, and much more for the whole family to enjoy.
