World Book Night

Date(s): 4/23/2014

4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Crawford Library of the Health Sciences, University of Illinois Rockford, 1601 Parkview Ave., Rockford, IL 61107
The Crawford Library of the Health Sciences will be handing out free books to light or non-readers on Wednesday, April 23 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 1601 Parkview Avenue in Rockford, Illinois, as part of World Book Night U.S. The Library will join 25,000 volunteers who will give away half a million free books in more than 6,000 towns and cities across America.

World Book Night U.S. (WBN) is an ambitious campaign to give thousands of free, specially printed paperbacks to light or non-readers. Volunteer book lovers help promote reading by going into their communities and handing out free copies of a book they love, often to those without means or access to a printed book. With the organizational support of local bookstores and libraries, volunteers will be sharing books in locations such as hospitals, mass transit, nursing homes, food pantries, underfunded schools, and more. Avid readers will not receive books but are asked to participate next year as a giver by visiting www.WorldBookNight.org.

World Book Night U.S. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization supported by UPS, authors, publishers, the American Booksellers Association, the American Library Association, Barnes & Noble, and the Ingram Content Group; a full list of sponsors is at www.WorldBookNight.org.
