Travel The World on a Shoestring Budget

Date(s): 3/12/2015

7:30 pm

317 W Jefferson Rockford, IL
World Travel on a Shoe String: The in’s and out’s of seeing the world on the cost of buying a cup of cappuccino and going out to eat at Mc Donald’s a day.

Jim Phelps, an avid world traveler, has been backpacking around the world since the mid 1980’s. 1988/89 he spent nearly a year traveling the Middle East with a rucksack and camping gear and only spent $2100. Jim will explain just how easy backpack touring is to do and what kind of gear is necessary for a successful trip. Also, he will explain how to do travel planning preparation, what resources are available (some of them for free) and where to go right now for the best deal for your dollars. If you are into surfing, why Central America and parts of South America are perfect for dollars on the day. If mountains are your thing, he will tell you how to get there and enjoy them. You just want to go visit a capital city? He’ll tell you which ones are reasonably priced at the moment to travel to and do sightseeing. What does it cost in today’s dollars to travel around the world? The answer might surprise you in how cheap it could be.

Jim is also planning a trip in the next year back to Nepal and is looking for trekking partners for the Annapurna Circuit, an 18 day hike in the Himalayan Mountains. So, if you are interested, please come to this Conveyer Event to find out more.

This is a free event, open to the public.
