Rockford Man Pleads Guilty to First Degree Murder

A Rockford man is sentenced to 25-years in prison after pleading guilty to first degree murder. Back in 2005 Savonte Brown called 911 to report his girlfriend's two-year old son Skyler Martin wasn't breathing. The child later died at Rockford Memorial Hospital. A medical investigation concluded Brown was to blame. He will have to serve 100-percent of his sentence.

I agree its not jusice. He not only hurt Skylar and his family but also hurt the children he continued to make who will serve a life sentence without their father. I agree he is a monster and had i known everything my beautiful twins would not exist, I would never have deliebrately put them in this situation. How do u explain to your children that their father is a monster?

25 years is to short a time for this type of a person, but i hope that once he is inside someone will see to it that it is the longest 25 years a perso can do. Then maybe he will do the world one good turn and do a way with himself, this type of person should be put down like a bad dog would be if it had killed a child. But a dog would not have knowen right from wrong, and a person should have .

With time already served Savonte Brown will serve a little over 23years in prison for Killing 2 year old Skyler Martin. How the states Attorney could make a deal for 25 years and drop the agg battery of a child which carries a 30 year 100% serve, not to mention the receive/poss/use weapon, agg battery/policing and crim dmg/gov property charges that were also dropped to make this deal. Our family has waited 3 years for justice for Skyler, all the while being told by the States attorneys office to be patient, they were building a solid case against Savonte Brown because they wanted him to do the maximum time. Then they turn around and drop charges so they don't have to go to court. Skyler is serving a life sentence! Savonte Brown will be out of prison in his mid 40's. This is not justice for Skyler or for Skyler's family.
