A local organization aimed at preparing minorities for the future is now thousands of dollars richer. The Northern Illinois Minority Companies association received a state grant today for 300-thousand dollars. The money will be used to create a training program for stateline women and minorities interested in the construction trade.
"This is an 18 month course... And we'll have about 100 students in about an 18 month period," said Craig Sockwell, Minority Companies President.
For those interested in the program. There's an open house in about 25 minutes at the Eigerlab in Rockford.
