Get Kids Tested For Lead Poisoning Free Thursday

With all the toy recalls lately, due to possible lead contamination, health officials say it's extra important now to get our kids tested for lead poisoning.

This Thursday, Patriot's Gateway in Rockford is holding a health fair. Parents can get their children tested for lead poisoning. As well as see if they've got proper iron levels. And it's all for free, plus dinner will be served at no cost.

"There is no way to know if a child is poisoned unless you test their blood. It's a simple poke in the finger. It doesn't take a long time and it's very easy but you want to deal with it. You don't want this to linger," said Kristine Stenslend of the Winnebago County Health Department.
