Cell Phone Turns 35

" ring ring"

It's a common noise today.. but if Robin Price heard that sound *outside of her home 35 years ago... she might have gotten her ears checked.

"You never thought of carrying them around or flipping them in your purse they were always for emergencies."

Robin is one of many stateline adults who say they're still stunned by the rapid advancement of cell phones over the last several decades from the color of it's shell to the flashy features, like cameras, text messaging. ...Of course we can't forget about what they used to look like.

"My first cellphone was a big brick battery and it was very heavy." says Robin

and just to give you a perspective of how big they were.. it would take four apples, two pounds .. to equal the size of cellphones weight in 1973.

but as the size of cell-phones shrink...user networks continue to grow! according to wireless provider US Cellular, the number of subscribers grew from 7.5 million in 1992 to more than 243 million in 2007. and with so many friends, the cell phone's birthday is sure to be celebrated around the world.
