Many Stateline residents took advantage of the above freezing temperatures this weekend. They were wise to do so because winter is going to come screaming back into northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin Monday morning.
On Sunday night look for scattered showers and thunderstorms as temperatures climb into the low 50s. Starting at around 6 am, however, the rain will changeover to sleet and then snow dropping a possible 1-2" on Rockford and surrounding communities and making for a sloppy morning commute to work. Temperatures will also drop through the day with most communities in the low 20s by Monday evening.
Skies will clear on Monday night, but the clouds will roll right back in on Tuesday as another storm digs itself out of the lower Mississippi valley. As this storm moves to the northeast parts of the Stateline, especailly communities in the southeast like DeKalb will see a good shot at another 1-3" of the white stuff.
After this storm moves out temperatures will plunge into the teens and twenties to finish off the work week. Winter is not through with us yet!
