Quality over quantity. That's the method ComEd is using to strengthen our source of power by eliminating trees in our area. Starting next week, 100 trees with be taken down or trimmed in Southeast neighborhoods. The plan comes after 50 thousand American homes went without power in 2003 when branches struck a power line. The new regulations mostly affect residents living near Arnold and Alpine park road. They understand the method but feel the process is being taken to the extreme. Right now ComEd is offering landscape options for every tree taken down.. Some trees will actually be moved to different locations ...safe from power lines.
