Mark Henderson joined the 23 News Team as the weekend meteorologist in July, 2003. He took the reigns of the 23 StormTeam as chief meteorologist in October, 2004. Mark is excited to be living in the Stateline, less than an hour away from family and friends in his native Schaumburg, Illinois. He says stateliners have been most welcoming and a pleasure to work with.
Prior to joining the 23 News Team, Mark has had stints in both Cadillac, Michigan and Rhinelander, Wisconsin. While both areas featured many forecasting challenges, Mark says the weather patterns here in the stateline are far more fascinating.
Mark is a 2001 graduate of Valparaiso University in Indiana. There, he participated in a two-year internship at WGN-TV in Chicago as well as numerous storm chases in the Great Plains, an experience he calls "one of the greatest rushes in the world."
In his free time, you can find Mark outside enjoying a wide variety of outdoor activities, or inside cheering on his favorite team, the Chicago Cubs. Oh yeah, did we mention he loves the weather? He says he falls asleep to and wakes up to the Weather Channel each and every day.
