Dan Guthrie joins WIFR as the weekend weather anchor as well as a reporter. He graduated from Valparaiso University with a B. S. in Meteorology and a second major in Communications: TV/Radio. He interned at WMAQ in Chicago and was also an on-air personality for his college radio station.

Dan isn't a stranger to the Rockford area. His father was born and raised here and a lot of his family still resides in the area today. Growing up in Morris, IL allowed him to keep in contact and visit, especially for their yearly family reunions.

When Dan isn't forecasting the weather or hunting down story ideas, he is involoved in some kind of outdoor activity. He loves to go golfing and fishing during the summer. If he's not playing sports, he's watching them cheering on his Cubbies, Bears, and Blackhawks. He is also a huge Notre Dame Fighting Irish football fan, and when it comes to NASCAR he's cheering on Jeff Gordon and Carl Edwards.

Dan is also a big movie buff. Some of his big screen idols include Jim Carrey, Johnny Depp, and Harrison Ford. He grew up always wanting to be an actor, but his passion for math and science won out in the end.
