Mike Curkov joins WIFR as the Weekend Sports Anchor/Reporter. He comes to 23 from the Schaumburg Flyers professional baseball team where he was the Director of Media Relations/Broadcasting and Baseball Operations. Mike graduated from Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL with a B.A. in broadcasting. At Western, Mike covered Leatherneck and Westerwind sports and provided color commentary for WIU sports on campus television station WWIR and men’s basketball color on WJEQ Classic 103. He was an intern at Q101 in Chicago and Comcast SportsNet Chicago.
Mike grew up directly across the street from 23 StormTeam Chief Meteorologist Mark Henderson and his family in Schaumburg, IL.
Curkov is a huge White Sox, Bears and Bulls fan. Mike lives in Loves Park with his dog, Rocky.
