Tina Stein anchors the 5, 6, and 10pm newscasts. She joined WIFR as a General Assignment Reporter in 2006. She was quickly promoted to Weekend Anchor/Reporter, followed by Evening Anchor in 2010. The Illinois Broadcasters Association awarded her "Best Anchor" in 2012. The Illinois Associated Press named Tina "Best Reporter" in 2011. She also swept the "Best Investigation" category which included reports on medical malpractice and Illinois' pension problems. Tina won first place for her series on problems in the Rockford School District, and first place for her feature on the growing number of local firefighters being diagnosed with cancer. In total, she has won ten Associated Press awards since 2009.


She graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.A. in Journalism and launched the very first student-run TV station. While in college, Tina interned at WIFR and sister-station WMTV in Madison, along with WGN-TV in Chicago, KCRG-TV in Cedar Rapids, and Tribune Broadcasting in Washington, DC. Other activities include serving as President of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority and President of RTNDA.
