Jorge is from Chicago - born and raised - and he’s excited to be in Rockford. He joined WIFR in February 2013 as a Multimedia Journalist after a brief stint as an intern in the newsroom. Jorge writes stories for the 5, 6, and 10pm newscasts during the week, as well as on the weekends.
News has always been a passion for Jorge. He started watching the evening news as a young boy, and instantly knew TV reporting was what he was meant to do.
WIFR is Jorge’s first job in the news industry. Actually, he still goes to Northern Illinois University, where he’ll soon be earning his B.A. in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Communications. At NIU, Jorge worked at the Northern Television Center where he wrote stories, anchored, produced, and shot video for the school award-winning student-run newscast.
Jorge used his experience at NIU to earn an internship in the newsroom at WLS-TV, Chicago’s ABC affiliate. That was his first professional newsroom experience and it solidified his love for broadcast news.
Jorge is thrilled to know he can make a real difference as a reporter. He’d also like to hear from you, especially if you have a story idea.
Feel free to contact Jorge by sending him an email or by following him on Twitter and Facebook.
