Shannon joined the WIFR news team in July 2012.
Born and raised in Chicago, Shannon isn't too far from home. After writing for a teen magazine called TrueStar in high school, she realized her love for the news. Since she'd been writing for print for years, Shannon decided to try the other side of journalism by deciding to major in Broadcast Journalism. Upon graduating from Morgan Park High School in 2008, she set her sights on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she received her bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism in 2012.
Shannon also worked on her skills as a reporter by writing and editing during her time as an intern for WCIA, the CBS affiliate in Champaign in 2011. She also produced editorial content as a intern at StyleChicago.com, a lifestyle website in downtown Chicago.
She's considered a One-Man Band, as she can shoot, write, edit and report all of her own stories. Shannon says, "I love that I'm able to meet new people everyday, and it's my job!"
As the youngest of 4 girls, Shannon loves to try new things, and dreams of going bungee jumping one day (once she finds a friend brave enough to go with her). Although she's not the biggest sports fan, she still supports the Bulls. She also loves to try new foods, though she enjoys Chinese. When she's not in the newsroom, she loves to sing and dance as she's a big fan of the TV show, Glee.
