MAPLE PARK (WIFR) -- Friday was a night for the compact racing at Sycamore Speedway. They featured a Demolition Derby, as well as a Figure 8. As described by a 5-year-old girl who was watching the races with her grandfather, “The demolition derby was AWESOME!” Saturday’s racing was sponsored by 97.9 The Loop, they featured their Loop Race Car plus a guest DJ to broadcast live right from the Speedway. It was a fun night of racing and music.
For this coming weekend Sycamore Speedway is hosting a Demolition Derby, Spectator, Compact & Powder Puff Racing, Figure 8, 1-on-1 Drags for their Friday night’s show. Saturday night’s show is the Corn Classic, with special sponsorships from Honey Baked Ham. The Corn Classic is 36 laps on the ½ in honor of DeKalb’s Cornfest. For both nights of racing, Gates open at 6pm, Time Trials at 7:15pm, and Racing at 8pm. General Admission is $12 for Adults on Friday night, $5 for children ages 6 through 13 and for children 5 and under are FREE.
Friday, August 23rd & Saturday, August 24th will be a Back to School Special PLUS Corn Boil. The Back to School special is that for every paying Adult, 2 children, under the age of 13 will get in FREE, a potential $10 savings.
In addition to Saturday's racing plus above mentioned specials, the speedway will be hosting a "Race your favorite Driver" Corn Eating Contest. Five drivers will be partnered with 5 kids, randomly picked from the audience, to see who can eat 2 ears of corn the fastest.
