Rockford Skating Club Skaters Attend Competition

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The Rockford Skating Club sent seventeen young women to skate in both the Qualifying and Non-qualifying competitions held in Green Bay from October 12th-16th, featuring skaters from Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota. Three ladies competed in the Qualifying portion of the competition. If the skaters finished in the top four of their qualifying round, they moved on to the Championship Round. The top four skaters in the Championship Round advanced to the Sectional competitions held later this year. The Rockford Skating Club sent two young ladies to compete at the Intermediate level for their first time, Delaney Anderson and Hannah Menge. The club also sent MakalaArn to compete at the Novice level. Makala advanced to the Championship round finishing fourth and thereby advancing to Sectionals, where she will compete against 11 other skaters for a chance to skate at the National Competition in January.
The other fourteen young ladies competed at a variety of levels. These competitions did not result in advancing to a Sectional Competition. Depending on the sizes of groups, there may not have been championship rounds. Skaters competed in groups as large as 18. Those skaters finishing in the top four received a medal. Of the fourteen girls, nine finished in the top four of their groups. Seven of those nine were eligible to compete in Championship Rounds and five of those seven brought home additional medals. So the Rockford Skating Club brought home a total of 15 medals in the Non-qualifying portion of the competition. The following girls represented the Rockford Skating Club in Green Bay.
