ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Below are various sporting events being conducted by the Rockford Park District.

FAMILY GOLF AT INGERSOLL LEARNING LINKS -- Families with children of all ages can enjoy playing and practicing golf together at Rockford Park District's four-hole Learning Links at Ingersoll Golf Course, 101 Daisyfield Rd., Rockford. The course features holes ranging from 60 to 105 yards, with open practice times held Sundays, 1:00-5:00 p.m. April -October, 2013. Additional open times in the summer are Wednesdays June 19-August 14, 2013, 4:00-7:00 p.m., and Fridays June 21-August 16, 2013, 9:00 a.m.-noon. Exceptions to open times are during official tournaments and lesson activities; call 815-987-8834 to confirm hours. Clubs in all sizes, and golf balls are available to use free of charge at the facility. Admission fees are $1.00 for ages 17 and under, and $3.00 for ages 18 and older ($1.00 if accompanied by youth ages 17 and under). Park District golf permit holders play free. This is one of many low-fee activities offered by the Rockford Park District. NFL FLAG FOOTBALL AND CHEER REGISTRATION OPEN HOUSE APRIL 20 -- Rockford Park District will hold a free youth sports registration open house Saturday, April 20, 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Carlson Ice Arena, 4150 N. Perryville Rd. (at Riverside Blvd.), Loves Park, where parents of children ages 5-14 can learn more about two of Rockford Park District’s youth sports programs, NFL Flag Football, and NFL Cheer, which provide quality, fun recreational opportunities where youth learn and develop sports and leisure skills they can enjoy for a lifetime. The open house is one of many free events offered by the Rockford Park District.
Coaches and volunteers will be on hand to provide information and answer questions about the programs, and information will be available at the event for those interested in becoming a coach or volunteer. Free giveaways and special drawings for Park District facility admission tickets will also be held. Information will also be available about this year's May 18 Rockford Football Training Camp at Auburn High School, where featured special guest appearances are scheduled with Lance Briggs and Roberto Garza of the Chicago Bears. CHICAGO BEARS PLAYERS TO APPEAR AT PARK DISTRICT TRAINING CAMP MAY 18 --The Tenth Annual Rockford Football Training Camp is scheduled for Saturday, May 18, 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Rockford's Auburn High School Stadium, 5110 Auburn St., Rockford, IL. (stadium opens at 8:15 a.m.). Guest speakers/instructors scheduled to appear at the camp are Bears players Lance Briggs and Roberto Garza. At the one-day camp, boys and girls ages 5-18 will learn foundational football skills and techniques from coaching staff led by NFL Youth Football staff and area high school coaches, meet the pros, and participate in NFL Combine drills.
Fees for the May 18 camp are $50.00 per participant ($55.00 non-resident) if registered by April 14, and $60.00 ($65.00 non-resident) if registering April 14 or after; the fee includes a t-shirt, an energy snack, drink, and autographs of Chicago Bears players who will be the guest instructors. The rain site will be the Indoor Sports Center in Loves Park.
Meet and Greet tickets are also available for fans and non-participants ages three and older for $60.00 per person if purchased by April 14, and $75.00 if purchased April 14 or after. Meet and Greet tickets include access to a special area for autographs, and to meet the visiting Bears players from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Chicago Bears guests are subject to change.
