MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Jabari Parker received a hero's welcome in his new home after being taken with the second overall pick in the draft by the Milwaukee Bucks.
The 6-foot-8 forward from Duke wanted to come to Milwaukee. He said Friday that he intends to stay in town for a long time.
The Bucks are rebuilding after a franchise-worst 67-loss season. The 19-year-old Parker will be counted on to be a face of an organization under new ownership that is trying to re-energize the fan base.
A partisan crowd at a downtown public market offered raucous applause Friday when he showed off his new No. 12 jersey at a news conference.
