Kish College Bids Farewell to Three Women's Basketball Standouts

MALTA (WIFR) -- On Wednesday, April 17, Kishwaukee College celebrated the careers of three sophomore women basketball players who will be transferring next fall to four-year institutions to continue their academic and athletic careers. Rosie Gambino, Valerierose Agnello, and Kelsie Kluck signed Letters of Intent in front of family, friends, and College faculty and staff.

The sophomores leave a legacy of solid basketball under Head Coach Karen Wiley and Associate Coach Kat Martin. For the two years Gambino, Agnelleo, and Kluck wore the Kougar uniform, the women’s basketball team had a 53-17 record that included two back-to-back Arrowhead Conference Championships, the 2012 Region IV Championship, the District L Championship and finished 4th at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Tournament this year.

Rosie Gambino will be playing for Iowa State University next fall. The 6’4” pre-pharmacy major has been named as an Arrowhead Academic All-Conference (twice) and is a NJCAA Academic All-American nominee. She has also been named to the Kishwaukee College Dean’s List. Gambino holds school records at Kishwaukee for single game blocks, single season blocks, and career blocks.

Valerierose Agnello will be playing for Wichita State University next fall. The 5’10” pre-physical therapy major and Kougar team captain has been named as an Arrowhead Academic All-Conference (twice), a NJCAA Academic All-American nominee, a State Farm All-American, First Team Arrowhead All-Conference, and Second Team All Region IV player. She has also been named to the Kishwaukee College Dean’s List.

Kelsie Kluck will be playing for Ashford University next fall. The 5’7” biology major has been named as an Arrowhead Academic All-Conference (twice) and is a NJCAA Academic All-American nominee. She has also been named to the Kishwaukee College Dean’s List.

Coach Wiley at the signing ceremony noted that the three Kougars excelled not only on the court but also in the classroom which enhanced their transfer options and contributed to their success. She recognized the three for their hard work and their leadership on and off the court.
