Boylan grad Jake Smolinski picked up his MLB first hit and RBI in his first start with the Texas Rangers. It's a moment the young outfielder has been waiting for since getting drafted by Washington in 2007.
The hit came in the 7th inning against the Astros as Smolinski smacked a double all the way to the wall. He didn't wait long for hit number two as he sent a single to left in the ninth.
Smolinski fought through the minors with 10 different teams in 8 years to get to this point.
