JANESVILLE (WIFR) -- ESPN 1380, WIFR-TV, and the Rockford IceHogs are giving back this holiday season. The organizations have organized a youth sporting goods drive to benefit the Stateline Boys & Girls Clubs of Beloit and South Beloit.
From November 26, through December 22, community members are encouraged to donate new or gently used sporting goods for the Stateline Boys & Girls Clubs. items being accepted include sports equipment (balls, bats, gloves, sticks, etc...), plus shoes, cleats and skates. No apparel will be accepted.
ESPN 1380 General Manager Laurie Clark said, "We are thrilled to have the chance to work with such great organizations to help local youth. Sports are a great outlet for youth in so many ways and we are proud to give kids in the Stateline the chance to enjoy them."
"The IceHogs are excited to partner with ESPN 1380 and WIFR-TV on this great initiative to give sporting equipment to the Stateline youth," said Mike Peck, Director of Communications for the Rockford IceHogs.
WIFR General Mangager Greg Graber had this to say about the youth sports drive, "WIFR is very proud to be a part of this coalition that is helping these boys and girls get involved in sports. It was an important time in my life, so I can only imagine the happiness that they will get when they see these gifts. I really believe that it is times like this that helps shape the lives of our children."
David Wilson from the Stateline Boys and Girls Clubs said, "It's always a good feeling when there are other people, businesses, agencies and organizations that choose to contribute time and resources to ensure that we can continue to provide programming, services, and care at little to no cost to the youth and families we serve. We are grateful as a community serving organization."
