Bears Offense Knows It Needs To Improve

CHICAGO (AP) -- The Chicago Bears defense is holding its own and more for now. The offense is having trouble keeping up.

With the 1-5 Carolina Panthers coming to Chicago on Sunday, the Bears are hoping to protect quarterback Jay Cutler better and be more consistent with their running game than they were against Detroit in a 13-7 win Monday and in other recent victories.

Cutler's rib injury is not expected to keep him out of the Carolina game, and the running game has shown some signs of reviving after running back Matt Forte gained 96 yards Monday.
