Sox Swept By Seattle, Lose 8th Straight

Jose Guillen hit a two-run homer in the first and drove in five runs in the Seattle Mariners' 11-5 win to cap a weekend sweep of the Chicago White Sox.

Adrian Beltre added a solo shot in the first. Seattle remained a half-game up on the Yankees in the wild card and two back of the Angels in the AL West.

White Sox starter Jon Garland was pounded for 10 hits and 10 runs fell to 8-9. He was knocked out in the third inning.

Seattle starter Felix Hernandez certainly wasn't at his best, but didn't need to be to raise his mark to 9-6. Hernandez gave up four earned runs and 10 hits, but lasted into the seventh for his third straight victory.
