Thomas ties Murray

Toronto Blue Jays designated hitter Frank Thomas hit his 504th home run this afternoon. It ties him with Eddie Murray for 20th on baseball's career list.

Thomas homered on the first pitch he saw from Texas starter Willie Eyre with two on and nobody out in the bottom of the first, giving Toronto a 5-0 lead.

It was the 17th home run of the season for Thomas, who had not connected since homering twice against Minnesota on July 23rd, eight games ago.

Thomas, who became the 21st player in baseball history to hit 500 home runs on June 28th, is seven homers from tying Mel Ott for 19th place.
