Alex Rodriguez is the newest and youngest member of the 500 home run club. With two runners on in the first inning, the New York Yankees third baseman brought the Yankee Stadium crowd to its feet by slamming the first pitch he saw from Kansas City's Kyle Davis just inside the left field foul pole for his first homer since July 25th and 36th of the season.
Rodriguez also hit the first home run of his career against the Royals.
A-Rod's historic blast comes eight days after celebrating his 32nd birthday, surpassing Jimmie Foxx as the youngest player to reach 500 homers. Foxx was 32 years, 338 days old when he reached the coveted plateau.
Rodriguez is the 22nd player to reach the mark and second this season behind Frank Thomas.
