Bears' Berrian Looks For New Contract After Breakout Season

Berrian said today that a deal could get done now or at the end of the season, but both options are fine with him.

The Bears have extended the contracts of cornerbacks Charles Tillman and Nate Vasher, given new defensive tackle Darwin Walker a new five-year deal and signed Lance Briggs to a franchise tender offer.

Whether they can afford a new deal for Berrian, a fourth-year receiver out of Fresno State, is the question.

Bears wide receiver coach Darryl Drake says would be a shame if the team is unable to work out a deal with Berrian, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

Offensive coordinator Ron Turner rates Berrian on par or even above 12-year veteran receiver Muhsin Muhammad.
