Kerry Wood is back in a Chicago Cubs uniform.
The Cubs today activated the right-hander from the disabled list after optioning pitcher Rocky Cherry to Triple-A Iowa.
Wood ended up on the DL at the start of the season with right shoulder tendinitis.
The 30-year-old pitcher went 1-1 with a 1.04 ERA in eight rehab outings with Rookie League Mesa, Single-A Peoria and Double-A Tennessee last month.
Wood has compiled a 71-56 career record with a 3.68 ERA since being picked by the Cubs in the 1995 draft. His 1,299 strikeouts rank fifth in Cubs history, just six behind Greg Maddux.
Also today, Chicago put Angel Guzman on the disabled list with a strained right elbow.
