Brewers Beat Giants

Barry Bonds took the day off while the San Francisco Giants were absorbing a 7-5 loss at Milwaukee.

Bonds was held out of the lineup after going 0-6 with three walks and two strikeouts in the first two games of the series. He remains two homers shy of Hank Aaron's career record of 755.

Ryan Braun and Corey Hart hit two-run homers off Barry Zito in the first inning to help the Brewers avoid a three-game sweep. Braun finished with three RBIs and J.J. Hardy added a two-run single to the victory.

Claudio Vargas is 8-2 after giving up three runs and five hits in six innings. Francisco Cordero picked up his 31st save with a scoreless ninth.

The Brewers tagged Zito for seven runs in just five and a third. The Giants lefty is 7-10 this season, with one victory in his last eight starts.
