Kerry Wood had his best outing today in his latest attempt to come back from injury.
Wood expressed satisfaction with the velocity and location of his pitches after his inning of work for the Chicago Cubs' entry in the Arizona Rookie League.
The 30-year-old right-hander is pitching every other day this week. He has one more start on Saturday, then will fly to Chicago for his annual charity fund-raising bowling tournament.
During the visit, he will meet with Cubs officials to assess his next move.
Wood was diagnosed a year ago with a partially torn rotator cuff. But he chose not to have surgery, opting for rehabilitation instead.
Wood once seemed destined to lead the Cubs to success. But his career has been plagued by injuries the last two seasons.
