Bonds Held Out Of Starting Lineup For Second Straight Day

Two days ago, Bonds called himself an "embarrassment" because of the way he has been playing recently. He is four away from tying Hank Aaron's home run record of 755. He hasn't connected since a two-run shot July 3rd in Cincinnati.

Of his outburst after the Giants were swept at home by the Los Angeles Dodgers, Bonds says he did everything but bite himself. He says that won't happen again.

Bonds did not start tonight's game against the Cubs at Wrigley Field because of a sore body. He did pinch-hit in the eighth inning and lined out to left, stretching his batting funk to 0-for-21.

Bonds has acknowledged in recent days his legs, feet and toes are swollen -- and that he's just plain exhausted.
