Pinch-hitter Kevin Mench's tiebreaking RBI triple in the seventh lifted the Milwaukee Brewers to a 4-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies today.
Mench scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-2 for the Brewers (51-40).
The Brewers scored twice in the seventh off reliever Jeremy Affeldt to break a 2-2 tie. Geoff Jenkins led off with a double.
Mench, pinch-hitting for Gabe Gross, lined a ball into the right-field corner for the triple, his second of the season. Mench scored on Affeldt's wild pitch to pinch hitter J-J Hardy.
Affeldt (4-2) had retired 16 of his previous 17 batters before Jenkins' double. Matt Wise (3-1) pitched one scoreless inning in relief of Jeff Suppan and got the win.
Colorado had won six of eight but now dropped below .500 to 45-46.
