There's a lot of words to describe to Jim Caldwell

"Hard worker, smart guy. Good football knowledge, good speed, good work ethic, very bright and very focused"

And you'll find out a lot of them are similar. The Beloit native has led the Colts to the Super Bowl in his first season as head coach, but for those that know him its no surprise

Gene Van Gelder "He was an outstanding man from the beginning and he was just one of those men you knew was going to do something"

The man friends refer to as Jimmy got his start at Beloit Memorial High School, where he won a whopping nine varsity letters, and his success wasn't just individual. He led his Beloit Memorial football team to an undefeated season and the basketball team to a state title.

Despite all his accomplishments, Caldwell remains one of the most level headed guys around. Always giving back to the community.

But for how well liked he is, his friends know there is still a fierce competitor lurking underneath.

"It's hard to see because he is such a nice person when you see him on the sidelines. Like they said he finally smiled after the game"

After winning the AFC title that is. However I'm sure that smile isn't so wide tonight, but there is always next year.
