Bonds will start in a National League outfield that will also include the Mets' Carlos Beltran and Cincinnati's Ken Griffey Junior, the NL's leading vote-getter.
Griffey says Bonds will dominate the pre-game hype leading up the game in his home ballpark. "He gets to have all the fun stuff and the press conferences," Griffey says before adding: "I just get to play."
The other NL starters are Dodgers catcher Russell Martin, Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder, Philadelphia second baseman Chase Utley, Mets shortstop Jose Reyes and his teammate David Wright at third base.
The Detroit Tigers placed three starters in the AL lineup: catcher Ivan Rodriguez, second baseman Placido Polanco and outfielder Magglio Ordonez.
The rest of the AL starting squad includes Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez and teammate Derek Jeter at shortstop along with the Angels' Vladimir Guerrero and Seattle's Ichiro Suzuki in the outfield.
The All-Star game will be held July tenth in San Francisco.
