Glendale Approves New White Sox, Dodgers Spring Training Stadium

The Glendale City Council gave its unanimous approval to the nearly 81 (m) million dollar facility last night.

The agreements include a tax-revenue sharing plan with Phoenix because the ballpark is planned on 151 acres of Glendale-owned land inside Phoenix city limits. The site is near the new University of Phoenix stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals.

The White Sox currently hold spring training in Tucson and have a long-term agreement with the city. They will have to try to get out of the contract, which expires in 2013.

The Dodgers plan to leave Vero Beach, Florida, in 2009.

The 12-thousand seat stadium will feature three-thousand lawn seats.
