LONDON (AP) -- The rain that has delayed the start of Wimbledon is even more of a concern this year with the opening of a roofless Center Court.
The All-England Tennis Club has removed the partial roof over the stands as part of work to install a retractable roof by 2009.
It means players and fans will have to take extra precautions against rain and sun. The lack of roof may also mean extra wind on the court.
Another change at Wimbledon this year is equal prize money for men and women for the first time.
The club's chief executive says organizers have debated pay parity for a while, but he says this year was the right time to bring it about.
