Mahan finished second in this event last year. But he made a two-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole to beat 40-year-old journeyman Jay Williamson. Williamson has never won in 280 starts on the PGA Tour. He was playing this event on a sponsor's exemption.
The second-place finish is enough to earn Williamson a trip to Michigan for next weekend's Buick Open on the PGA Tour before he returns to the Nationwide Tour.
