Sox Bullpen Blows It Again, 8-4

Pinch-hitter Abraham Nunez snapped a 3-3 tie with a one-out R-B-I single in the seventh frame. And Aaron Rowand gave the bullpen some breathing room when he belted a two-out grand slam later in the inning. The Phillies' center fielder finished with five R-B-Is.

Wes Helms broke a season-long homerless drought with a solo shot and the Phillies won for the seventh time in nine games to move a season-best four games above .500 at 35-and-31.

Philadelphia starter Kyle Kendrick pitched six effective innings in his major league debut, but the win goes to Ryan Madsen, who pitched a scoreless seventh to improve to 1-and-2.

Chicago reliever Matt Thornton gets the loss and drops to 2-and-2.
